Daughters of St. Francis of Assisi (FSF)
Daughters of St. Francis of Assisi (FSF) We were founded in 1922 by Rt. Rev. Bishop Michael Adalbero Fleischer CMM; helped by Rev. Mother Aemiliana Ambruster CPS. We are a diocesan organization in the Diocese of Mariannhill where we have our Motherhouse as well as our Generalate. Other Dioceses where we are found are Bethlehem, Archdiocese of Durban, Eshowe, Kokstad, and Umzimkhulu. In this Diocese of Umzimkhulu we now have three communities: Centocow, Harding and St. Leo. Our presence in the Diocese of Umzimkhulu has been there since our inception. Initially we worked in collaboration with the Precious Blood Sisters for many years in a number of mission stations like Lourdes, Emaus, Centocow. We also worked at Mahobe, Jericho and (St. Agnes Ndawane), now known as Kwamashayilanga.
Our Vision
The principal aim of our congregation is: the glorification of God by following Christ Poor and Crucified. Through living the Gospel message we are called to on-going conversion. By being faithful to our call we are a prophetic presence to the people among whom we live especially the poor. We devote ourselves to the ministry of evangelization. In this way we promote the Catholic faith and help Christianity to be incarnated in our continent.
